The role, and what the job is

• Design, develop, deploy and support all specification for complex scalable enterprise software programs and systems
• Review pre-existing complex code and provide recommendations to improve performance & maintainability
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers
• Add/Modify code and perform enhancements that integrate with old code
• Add/Modify new functionality to existing code
• Assess and fix problematic code

What a qualified candidate should possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or relevant experience
• Software development experience utilizing LAMP stack (Perl strongly preferred)
• 2+ years of experience working with web application
• In-depth knowledge of object-oriented methodologies, UML design techniques, event driven architectures, and other design patterns
• Experience with an open source development environment using tools such as Maven, Jenkins, Git, GIT CI
• Ability to troubleshoot, performance tune and understand memory & CPU utilization in code produced
• Desire and ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Experience in evaluating new & upcoming technologies and able to provide recommendations
• Experience in analyzing and tuning existing systems to maximize efficiency
• Experience in coaching junior team members on design pattern & coding styles.
• Experience in debugging and troubleshooting real time web application.

Nice-to-haves, but not required:

• Experience working in a dev-ops environment
• Experience with recently popular JS frameworks (Ember, Angular, React)
• Java development experience
• Spring Boot / Spring Framework experience
• Experience in other scripting languages i.e. PHP, Bash, Ruby, Python
• Experience with open-source libraries/frameworks, e.g. Hystrix, Ribbon, Vert.x, Eureka, etc.
• Experience in Agile Development Experience
• Experience in automated testing and behavior testing frameworks such as Cucumber, Nightwatch
• Public Cloud experience preferably in AWS or Kubernetes
• You maintain or contribute to open-source software projects
