Job Title: Assistant Production Electrician
Reports To: Director of Production
Type of position: Exempt/Salary Compensation: $750/week
Employee Classification: Seasonal, 10/01/2019-01/01/2020 (Dates are negotiable)

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be working with Rail Events Productions (REP) through the winter of 2019 to present THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride at all Rail Events Productions locations. The Assistant Production Electrician will work with the Production Electrician and the rest of the lighting and production team during preproduction and load in to design and install all lighting systems in accordance railroad safety standards. They will assist in creating the shop orders and associated lighting paperwork for the lighting equipment. They will also work with the production electrician during all shop prep of equipment. They will be required to be available to contact during the run of the event in the case of system problems or necessary troubleshooting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with the Production Electrician and production staff to oversee prep, install, and maintenance of lighting systems
• Work with the Production Electrician to create all necessary documentation for onsite electrics crews
• Work on shop prep of lighting equipment with the Production Electrician
• Oversee local Master Electricians and oversee load in’s at assigned events
• Be available throughout the run of events to answer questions and keep up with the operation of lighting systems
• Work with the design and production staff during load out to see that event space is returned appropriately
• Responsible for seeing that the lighting systems are maintained with artistic integrity through the event
• Onsite and works with the Director and Production Staff during technical rehearsals to incorporate last minute changes
• Become familiar with railroad safety rules
• Maintain a safe, welcoming, positive, and inclusive working environment and advises other management with related concerns
• Communicates regularly with REP staff with regards to creative and practical ideas and decisions as well as project statuses
• Performs other duties as assigned

Education, Skill & Work Experience Requirements

• Experience as a lighting system technician
• Experience with ETC EOS software and consoles
• Experience with wireless DMX
• Ability to work alongside the production staff as a team member in an ever-changing environment
• Ability to work independently with self-motivation and attention to details as well as excellent organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate, recognize and solve practical problems and resolve issues
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form
• Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams that can include seasonal employees and interns
• Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as production schedules may dictate
• Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally
• Must be 18 or over
