The Manager of Insights & Strategy will have considerable experience building audience intel for television or similar media brands. The ideal candidate will be a keen fan of non-fiction storytelling, a good collaborator, curious, creative, and fearless in solving hard and interesting problems, while employing new social media sentiment tools to unearth viewers motivations behind the numbers.

Assignments will support current and new entertainment businesses within the research arm of the Discovery Corporate Ops and Communications division.


1. Use a plethora of data mining tools, spanning traditional and new media (e.g. Npower, Multitrak, Google Analytics, Comscore, Rentrak, MRI), expertly navigating through informational inputs to understand, model, and share consumer behavior with the entire company
2. Leverage social analytics and sentiment analysis to complement traditional media measurement
3. Work both autonomously and as part of a team
4. Tease out and prioritize client requirements
5. Participate in an open learning environment where sharing, documenting, teaching, and collaborating with others is the culture


• 7+ years of experience in consumer research, delivering results and being personally accountable for the quality of those results
• 3+ years of experience with a television or sVOD brand
• Strong, practical knowledge of a variety of digital analytics tools and techniques
• Experience using social listening tools such as Pulsar or Tubular
• Strong presentation skills – ability to tailor their story to the right audience, regardless of level
• Strong collaboration skills – ability and willingness to hear alternative points of view, critically evaluate, and incorporate as appropriate to improve the quality and depth of deliverables
• Comfort with the technology and pace of change of that technology in the data, analytics, and data science domains
• Interest in game theory is a plus
• Ability to tell a story with data – What does the analysis tell you? What do you think the business should do next? Why do you think what is happening, is happening? Ability to influence others with the story of what you’re seeing in the data to make business recommendations while listening to and incorporating alternative points of view
• At least a bachelor’s degree in a field of analytic study, e.g. Economics, Math/Statistics, Analytics
• Must have the legal right to work in the United States
