Job Description:

Handle the coordination of various casting department and administrative responsibilities including pilots, casting sessions, scouting and screening talent, talent showcases, workshops, outreach programs, and administrative / reporting as a member of the New York casting team.


• Maintenance of contents of shared G-drive for Casting – adding and updating files
• Knowledge of new technology and maintaining equipment including HD cameras, lighting, computers (Mac and PC), BlackMagic
• Administrative duties ongoing; Casual SAP buyer; maintain inventory/office supplies, handle purchase orders
• Interviewing, hiring and training interns – every 3 to 4 months; also Casting Assistant temps including training, budgeting, approval
• Cover pilots during pilot season – direct casting sessions, create lists, schedule
• Cover casting sessions in Executive Director’s absence
• Suggest talent for particular roles and for general meetings; participate/read (as needed) in generals with new talent
• Prescreen actors for roles in series and pilots
• Observe casting sessions whenever work load permits
• Release breakdowns in NY for each project
• Maintain master lists for each project and distribute master lists to appropriate personnel after each casting session for each individual project
• Scout talent by attending theater-- from Broadway productions to theater festivals, university showcases, and film festivals
• Manage annual NY Talent Showcase event (oversee All event logistics and All production aspects: including but not limited to scheduling, budget, research, interview, hire and manage staffing of producers, directors, coordinators, volunteers, catering, makeup, other vendors; manage event location/logistics, create timelines, create contact lists, invitations, handle legal aspects/contracts, review submissions, liase with actors, scene selection, work with Executive Director on talent decisions.)
• Reporting - NY Weekly, Comedy Strategy & Theater Strategy reports
• Special Initiatives and Outreach (Latino, A/PI outreach partners), On-Camera Workshops including: University Outreach, ABC Workshop Week, etc.
• Develop strong relationships with NY agents and managers
• Stay current on talent and industry trends
• Work closely with Executive Director in creating master lists and suggesting talent for our LA Executives to meet

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of casting experience in progressive roles. Prior experience at a studio, network, agency or related.
• Strong computer/technical skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 3 plus years of casting experience in progressive roles. Prior experience at a studio, network, agency or related.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
