What part will you play?


Warner Bros. seeks a Senior Analyst with strong music publishing experience to join its Intellectual Property (“IP”) Management team. In addition to the core responsibilities below, we are implementing an Enterprise Music Database and need a smart, motivated, self-starter with strong people skills to contribute to the design and support go-live of the new system.
• Analyzes and discerns IP rights and ownership through review of composer, soundtrack, production, distribution, co-finance, master licenses and other contracts and agreements.
• Researches and maintains Composition, Master and Contract rights data in Synchtank e.g., Rights Owned, Approvals, Restrictions, Options, Publishing Splits, Union Obligations, etc.
• Researches and maintains non-rights related data in Synchtank e.g., AKAs, production company, genre, BPM, mood, etc.
• Interfaces regularly with Business/Legal Affairs, Corporate Legal, Technical Operations, Sales, Finance and Participations to investigate and clarify rights, publishing splits and deal terms.
• Conducts complex rights-related research for client departments, including Finance, Music Licensing, and WaterTower to clarify deal-points and support financial contract reporting.
• Participates in special projects such as Synchtank enhancement testing, data conversion, and design of data extracts to support e.g., licensing, reporting and data quality standards.
• Leads on special projects as required, including library analysis, large acquisitions, output agreements, reversions, etc. for rights owned, attributes and other IP data.
• Trains users in Synchtank and related processes, which includes design of training materials and Synchtank demos and leveraging reporting tools to help users extract data.
• Analyzes and approves requests for the creation and maintenance of IP and Master Data, ensuring conformance to legal and financial policy.
• Designs department policy around the above e.g., IP creation, rights and data management, naming conventions, business processes, and makes recommendations on system, policy and business process improvements to management on a continual basis.
• Liaises with 3rd party administrators and publishers to manage our music catalogue e.g., rights and publishing changes, support timely and accurate royalty reporting, resolve disputes, etc., providing key research and supporting documentation when required.

What do we require from you?

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
• At least six years of music industry and film and TV experience, preferably in the areas of music publishing and licensing, including strong knowledge of contractual analysis.
• Prior experience analyzing and summarizing legal agreements clearly and accurately.
• Detailed understanding of music publishing rights, master ownership, distribution rights, sales restrictions, holdbacks, approvals, and similar product information.
• Paralegal and/or contract administration experience preferred.
• Experience with intellectual property management systems preferred.
• Demonstrates ability to interpret legal agreements and comprehend legal terminology.
• Experience with IP rights in the entertainment industry (distribution rights, publishing rights, master ownership, neighboring rights, etc.).
• Strong Excel knowledge.
• Excellent written, verbal and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
• Customer service oriented.
