Job Title: Production Manager
Reports To: Director of Production
Type of position: Exempt/Salaried Compensation: $6,000-$14,000 depending on experience and location
Employee Classification: Seasonal, Full-time (9/1/2019-1/7/2020, dates range by location)

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be working with Rail Events Productions during the fall and winter of 2019 to present THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride at various locations including but not limited to, Chicago, IL; Fillmore, CA; Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Miami, FL; New Orleans, La; Oklahoma City, OK; Perris, CA; and Whippany, NJ. They will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the event including cast, crew, and communication with both train operations and other third-party contractors. The Production Manager will work under the guidance of the REP Director of Production and with the rest of the REP staff. They will be responsible for being involved in preproduction work leading up to the opening of the event. They will work with the REP staff on preproduction logistics of the event and will take a leading role is recruiting local crews for both load in and run of the show. They will work on planning logistics and oversee the load out under the guidance of the REP staff. They will also be required to become knowledgeable with all of the Rail Events Productions policies and procedures as well as the REP owned props and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with the Director of Production and other REP Production Managers during preproduction, and take responsibility of day to day operations during the event in cooperation with the Business and Front of House Manager
• Lead recruiting of local crew for load in, load out, and run crew of the event
• Takes responsibility for planning local logistics of the event under the direction of REP staff
• Oversee and manage the technical aspects of the production
• Supervise stage management, lighting, sound, props, dιcor, wardrobe, and catering departments
• Serve as liaison between Rail Events Productions and local railroad management
• Manage all onsite staff and operations during the event run as well as load in and load out
• Works closely with the production staff during the entirety of the preproduction process
• Become familiar with railroad safety rules and oversee the event staff’s adherence to safety
• Works with the entire event team to maintain a positive, enjoyable, and rewarding environment for all staff and passengers
• Other duties as assigned

Education, Skill & Work Experience Requirements

• Experience with general management and managing special events
• Experience and ability problem solving and leading a large team in a live show setting
• Ability to lead and collaborate and remain calm while under pressure
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Experience managing and tracking budgets
• Ability to work alongside and serve as a leader for the event staff
• Possess a well-spoken manner in personal communications
• Self-motivation and attention to details
• Be physically capable of lifting heavy objects and assembling stage sets
• Must be willing to travel within the United States.
• Must be 18 or over
• High School diploma or equivalent
