Job Description:

At DreamWorks Animation Television, our Lighter/Compositor (TD) works closely with the Global VFX Supervisor to help develop and support lighting/compositing tools, light rigs and help provide support to existing and new episodic series.

DreamWorks Animation Television has an exciting new opportunity for a Lighter/Compositor (TD) to join its team based in Glendale, California. This position is covered by the Animation Guild.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Create Maya and Nuke production tools using the Python scripting language
• Set up, light, rig and comp character and environment assets for use in episodic TV
• Manage personal asset lighting and tool creation workloads, meeting all deadlines of milestones to material delivery, based on the established schedule and technical requirements
• Initiate, set up, organize and document any lighting tools
• Perform technical work in support of shot lighting using various production tools
• Perform creative lighting development setup as required using lighting and compositing tools
• Optimize setups for rendering
• Serve as lighting and compositing point person in production specific meetings and reviews

Qualifications/Requirements

• Strong understanding of Lighting and Compositing pipelines
• Experience with Python scripting and tool development
• Experience working professionally with Maya, Vray and Nuke software
• Experience compositing render passes generated from V-Ray and Mental Ray
• Strong understanding of color, contrast, and lighting design
• Working knowledge of Linear Workflows
• Experience creating CG pipeline production tools for television, feature film or gaming industries
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Characteristics

• At least 2 years of experience in the animation, VFX or gaming industries
• Experience with asset management software, Shotgun preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
