USA TODAY is looking for versatile, experienced freelance video producer(s) with storytelling and production skills. She/he should be able to shoot using effective lighting and audio and edit crisply at the speed of news in both studio and field environments. Experience with HDSLR and conventional HD video systems, production switchers like Tricaster and BlackMagic, editing using FCPX, and FTP are positive additions to the right candidate’s skill set. Proven experience with high quality still photography and experience using PhotoMechanic, Merlin, and Photoshop are highly important. Editorial skills like script editing, coaching and story development a plus as well.
The Video Producer must be able to quickly react to breaking news and production needs that include finding creative visual solutions for up-to-the-minute mobile, Web, social media, broadcast, and print platforms. She/he will work collaboratively with editors in USA TODAY’s NYC bureau, editors across the USA TODAY Network National News Desk, as well as other Gannett properties across the country.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of excellence, breaking-news judgment, visual story idea generation, organization and execution within a multiplatform news organization, all while operating at the highest ethical standards of video and photojournalism.
