Job Description:

Position Summary: Works Closely with Event and Entertainment Manager & Teams to coordinate events from concept development to operation and execution. Works closely with Entertainment & Events and Marketing Departments in the planning and execution of all special events for LEGOLAND California Resort. Supervise & Execute all aspects of special events, including coordination of permits, legal agreements, purchase requests, check requests, maintenance requests, sign requests, contracts, site agreements and updates to the event calendars. Organizes and leads Event Project Teams throughout the planning process up to and including load in, day of event responsibilities and strike following events. Provides creative input and direction for Entertainment Shows, and Event concept development/production. Works closely with Entertainment & Events Staff to ensure that the artistic integrity of the shows & events are maintained at the highest standards possible. Provides leadership and motivation needed for project teams to exceed guest and client expectations of service and professionalism.



Education:

A bachelorís degree in Theatre Management, Communication Arts, Advertising, Business, Marketing or closely related field (or equivalent work experience) is required.



Physical Demands:

Ability to sit for sustained periods of time to attend on-site and off-site meetings, perform paperwork activities, travel and drive.



Intermittent and prolonged standing and walking to move about the park site, and interact with employees.



Finger dexterity sufficient to complete paperwork activities and to use a computer.



Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials, to complete paperwork activities, and to drive.



Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.



Must be able to lift and load in equipment for shows & events Ė up to 50 lbs.



Work Environment:

Various inside and outside locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces.



Other Requirements:

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends and holidays to support park operations and event programs.



Must have valid driverís license, safe driving record, and be willing to utilize own vehicle for business purposes.



Must be willing to travel locally and regionally to conduct business, and occasional travel within the U.S.



Must have or be able to get a valid passport. Occasional travel abroad is required.



Requirements/Qualifications:

Background and Experience:

Requires a minimum of three to five years of progressive experience in a theme park or similar attraction Stage Managing Shows and/or Developing/Coordinating Events, preferably in the entertainment or attractions industry. Requires a track record of success in concept development, planning and coordinating special events and/or shows and at least one year of supervisory experience. Experience serving in a proactive role in creating and implementing event ideas and strategies is necessary. Strong Project Management skills are required, as well as ability to multi-task, to develop and execute detailed plans, programs and schedules. Requires Professional writing skills, demonstrating skill in delivering presentations and leading meetings; and outstanding organizational, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to be a contributing, proactive, positive and supportive member of the Operations Team and a primary liaison with other departments for the coordination of events. Demonstrated success in budget preparation and control. Ability to adapt to situational changes, and to adapt plans and schedules to accommodate changing needs of the operational season. Must be self-motivated and must demonstrate initiative. Requires excellent people skills, including the ability to maintain positive and supportive working relationships. Computer proficiency with ability to use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), desktop publishing software and familiarity with the Internet is required.



Responsibilities:

1.Assist in sourcing and contracting qualified production staff including Directors, Choreographers, Musical Directors, Scenic Designers, Costume Designers, Lighting and Technical Designers, and Contracted Entertainment to ensure show & event programs are of the highest caliber possible.

2.Serve as a POC for contracted and internal entertainers and act as stage manager on the day of events as assigned.

3.Establish internal teams and outside vendor support to execute Special Events.

4.Facilitate weekly Special Event and project meetings; facilitate assignments, work closely with originating department to establish and manage event budgets, and compiles status reports and After Event Reviews.

5.Work with Entertainment & Event Manager to create Budget worksheets for events as assigned, and effectively manage budget through planning process. Assists in managing the departmental operating Budget with particular attention to labor resources and ongoing supply costs for events. Track Event Labor and assist with monitoring Event CAR forms.

6.Supervise and coordinate assignments for subcommittees, reporting to Entertainment & Events Manager on the development and execution events.

7.Serve as Operations liaison with other departments, including Marketing, Maintenance and Food & Beverage, for the purposes of developing, coordinating and executing events.

8.Develop Event Plans as assigned and coordinate special event and project deadlines for each department; Monitor and update Special Events Calendars.

9.Prepare status reporting and post event feedback/After Event Reviews for events assigned.

10.Monitor industry trends through trade publications; develop relationships with counterparts at other Parks; serve as a spokesperson for Special Events and Shows as needed.

11.Provide support and leadership for all Entertainment & Event staff on a daily basis ensuring shows run on schedule and resolving problems or challenges as they arise; 70 Duty Manager as assigned.

12.Research and compile information to develop a working database of qualified production, creative and Special Event resource; maintain databases to keep the department files up to date and execute special projects surrounding them upon request.

13.Other duties as assigned.
