The AJC is seeking an Audience & Engagement Analyst to provide product analytics insights and support the newsroom with analytics insights related to content success and content strategy. The Audience & Engagement Analyst will engage with key product team members and newsroom partners to understand business needs, provide analytical and reporting support for their assigned business domains, and collaborate with Data Engineers to build and maintain dashboards to support ongoing business reporting needs. Focus areas include establishing a standard set of KPIs that offer a balanced view of the health of the business, engaging and supporting new product launches and key programs by developing, establishing, and reporting on product early-life and operational health metrics.
Partner with the Product and Editorial teams to understand business challenges and priorities, and to support their various analytical needs pertaining to content and product performance metrics.
Collaborate with business partners on formulating business hypotheses and ideating on areas of focus to develop insights that address specific problem statements and drive quantifiable results.
Develop effective presentations and executive communications to clearly translate analytical results into meaningful and actionable insights that influence business and operational performance improvement.
Manage and perform ongoing execution and maintenance of recurring reports and dashboards.
Build and execute both simple and complex queries and manipulate data to answer business questions.
Provide thought leadership about KPIs, potential new metrics, A/B testing, and best practices for analytic approaches.
Lead analytic projects and programs with minimal supervision.
Extensive experience with Google Analytics (GA360) and tools like Chartbeat.
Advanced dashboarding/reporting tools skills, including Tableau.
Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, logic statements, pivot tables, index/lookups, and VBA.
Demonstrated business acumen, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation, and collaborative skills to work effectively with cross functional teams throughout the organization.
Strong ability to translate and communicate complex analyses clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing/presentations.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with lots of moving parts where information, resources, and priorities can change quickly and where information must be readily digested and decisions made expeditiously.
Strong customer and user intuition.
