WSPA-TV seeks an experienced news professional to join our 7 News Assignment Desk as an full-time Assignment Editor. The person we are looking for will have at least 2-3 years of experience working in a newsroom and understands the key role the assignment desk plays in daily news gathering and maintaining our online platforms. Strong verbal and written communications skills, along with an aggressive passion for digging up facts and information, are required. Strong Communication Skills both Verbal and Written are essential. Heavy phone contact with news sources as well as the general public, so ability to act as first contact point for many with the newsroom is required. Strong knowledge of the Upstate & WNC region is essential. Understanding and working knowledge of contemporary broadcast newsroom systems and personal computer operations is mandatory. Knowledge of best practices in online and social media is highly desired.

2-3 years of experience working directly in a newsroom, preferably with assignment desk experience is strongly preferred. Undergraduate studies in broadcast journalism or mass communications is essential, with a Bachelor level degree preferred.
