I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

The VP Entertainment Marketing collaborates closely with management to define the strategic position for PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly and develops new partnerships and programs to help move the brand forward. This position analyzes research, develops brand strategy initiatives and creates a strategic point of difference that is consistently communicated through all sales collateral (i.e. general sales and category presentations), media kit materials and target account communications.

• Works with management to establish brand positioning and oversees the development of sales materials, including general sales and account presentations, media kit materials, integrated proposals/programs, promotional mailings, target account communications and other collateral. Ensures that all communications are on target and strategically position Entertainment brands to the advertising community and help maximize revenue generation.
• 25%
• Researches and develops strategic partnerships (both internally and externally) to create unique sales opportunities that help position PEOPLE/EW as forward-thinking, innovative brands.
• 20%
• Works with corporate research solutions to build sales strategies for specific accounts and category development.
• 15%
• Motivates and mentors entertainment integrated marketing team
• 5%
• Accompanies members of sales staff on calls with client and/or agency.
• 100%

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

• Bachelor‘s degree in Marketing or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.


• 15+ years in consumer magazines/media, including at least 10 years in research and/or brand development. Entertainment background preferred. Management experience required.
• Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to think strategically and integrate resources to help members of the sales team and their clients reach stated objectives
• Solid understanding of interactive and social media
• Excellent analytical and research skills
• Solid grasp of marketing concepts
