Job Description:


• Bachelor's Degree
• 8-0 years television development; production experience desirable.
• Proven track record in developing non-fiction programming;
•Excellent writing, communication and research skills.
• Innovative/creative and analytical thinking with an eye toward programming.
• Strong time management skills with ability to multi-task effectively.
• Strong relationships with TV producers and agents.
• Demonstrated ability to produce successful unscripted reality and comedic programming.
• Must take initiative and be self-motivated, flexible, able to juggle multiple projects and tasks successfully and be able to operate within budgetary and schedule contraints.
• Excellent teamwork skills.
• Must have excellent relationships within the entertainment community and be someone with whom the community is eager to work.


• Identify and develop new series concepts that will expand the truTV brand and build on current successful series.
• Negotiate for and acquire program rights and concepts in the competitive TV marketplace.
• Take pitches from Agents, Production Companies, & Producers and identify which ones have potential for truTV.
• Proactively approach agents & Producers regarding potential talent for the network.
• Give notes on pitches and have the experience to oversee presentation and casting tapes in order to maximize the final results and potentially move the project forward.
• Work closely with the Production department to ensure the smooth hand off of projects from development to pilot.
• Collaborate with the production team in an ongoing basis (when necessary) to ensure projects are successfully executed.
• Communicate effectively and constantly with Production Companies and Producers so they understand the truTV brand and keep our network "top of mind" when taking out and developing new projects.
• Create new show concepts internally. Develop these ideas from broad concepts into real ideas.
• Oversee and coordinate development process with key internal truTV departments.
• Ensure production quality and adherence to established budgets and schedules.
• Participates in the development of original programming to meet programming goals.
• Monitors the fulfillment of programming commitments, status of deal memos, and creative deliverables on all assigned projects.
• Conducts standard negotiations (with Business Affairs).
• Display leadership amongst development team and manage other talent within the department in order to operate more efficiently & creatively.
• Manages the daily activities of individuals (when appropriate) implementing discrete segments of program development work.
• Travel to conferences and other cities to expand contacts/promote network and find ideas and trends ahead of the competition.
