Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree preferred
• At least four years experience writing/producing news or pop culture/lifestyle content for major digital destinations
• At least two years producing experience (line/segment/AP) on a local or national level
• Strong skills in packaging video for online distribution, awareness of what makes for viral content
• Proven track record of creating engaging content (written, video, social) that drives traffic
• Sharp, fast writer with ability to deliver fresh voice and irresistible headlines
• Passion for pop culture, digital media, and television
• Experience and tireless commitment to leveraging social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter to drive audience engagement & traffic
• Strong news judgment and experience handling S&P considerations
• Demonstrated creativity and an inquisitive mind experience developing and launching new editorial features/franchises
• Ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including program talent
• Candidate must demonstrate creativity, initiative, teamwork, organizational skills, strong verbal, visual and written communication skills, strong technological skills and have an innovative approach to problem-solving
• Proficiency in Photoshop is a plus, as is familiarity with professional Web publishing tools and online multimedia production.

Desired experience includes multimedia reporting, including shooting video and still photographs and recording audio; multiplatform experience (TV/digital) and strong interest in social TV, mobile, etc.

Duties:

The Multi-Platform Producer (MPP) is the multiplatform integration lead within one or more HLN on-air show team(s). As such, the MPP is responsible for executing on-air content across digital platforms, owning digital content beats related to a show's mission, searching for/bringing digital content to air, and driving social engagement across platforms.

The MPP operates from a point of creative oversight, being truly integrated between the digital and TV platforms. This role is focused on newsgathering, content creation, marketing through social media/audience-engagement and developing/facilitating relationships with internal and external partners.

As HLN increasingly focuses on multi-platform content creation, the MPP is a critical role in the success of the business. He/she is the digital gatekeeper and will be evaluated for daily contributions to on-air and online success. Success will be measured in terms of: traffic on HLNtv.com, social metrics across platforms (e.g., number of Facebook followers, referrers, shares), quality of writing across platforms, and the ability to seek out/execute new ideas from digital to TV.

Duties include:

• Edit and post the best, most viral, irresistible show clips on a daily basis-- monitor strategies to maximize content sharing and tune-in.
• Manage all digital contributions from the show team and provide coaching, training and support as needed.
• Manage the show site/blog working with the EP and digital EIC to generate a unique voice/vision. Responsible for traffic tracking and growth.
• Search for and bring compelling digital content to television programming.
• Work with internal and external partners; including PR to generate awareness of show clips and create referrals to HLNtv.com, drive show awareness.
• Create graphics and tune-in-messages to drive show tune-in on a daily basis.
• Lead two-screen experience and social activity around the show (e.g., manage Facebook, Twitter, and other social accounts, initiate and manage chats) with defined goals around followers, shares, referrals, and user engagement.
• Ensure social accounts are timely, scheduling updates throughout days/weekends.
• Manage the show site/blog working with the EP and digital EIC to generate a unique voice/vision. Responsible for traffic tracking and growth.
• Working with internal stakeholders, develop, produce, and write engaging, multi-platform extensions that carry a user across online, on-air, and social.
• Pitch, write, and produce daily digital content relating to specific show beat (e.g., sample beats include justice, celebs, money, etc.). Create unique franchises for given beat.
• On a daily basis, write and produce journalistically sound, accurate, timely, compelling, and typo-free articles and copy for digital distribution. If necessary, manage copy through CNN Row, Legal, and S&P.
• Master all elements of digital media production including content management system, Photoshop, image sources, flip cam, video editing, etc.
• Develop and manage new site features that drive engagement and traffic (e.g., newsletters, spin-off sites, etc.).
• Actively participate in show and HLNtv.com daily meetings.
• Identify/flag trending stories and terms for on-air; create content for air supporting multiplatform story-telling.
• Serve as digital evangelist within the show team. Manage digital contributions from other show team members (e.g., producers, bookers, talent).
