The Job

CNN's Brand Studio, Courageous, is looking for a New York City Based Director, Production to further improve their award-winning custom content capability. The person who lands this job will have an immense opportunity to help create great branded content that will be distributed on an unparalleled scale around the world. Courageous partners with a Who's Who of blue chip brands that have big budgets to tell important stories that have Editorial merit.

Courageous works in numerous video formats including short-form, long-form, Virtual Reality and Live Television. The goal is to produce relevant work that will be of real interest to the CNN audience; a network available to more than 2 billion people in more than 200 countries and territories, spanning TV, Web, Great Big Story, Snapchat, Social Media, Airports and Mobile Devices.

The Daily

• Strategic leadership of production workflow, equipment, postproduction and media management
• Assist in tracking pre-sale workload
• Ensure each production runs smoothly, meets deadlines and stays within budget
• Communicates status of projects and any special requests and occurrences to upper management and stakeholders
• Ensure workflow goals and guidelines are being met
• Manage and mentor staff editors, DPs, line producers, etc.
• Manage searches and hiring of production freelancers and staff
• Establish and maintain preferred vendor list
• Partake in key creative brainstorms and approval sessions
• Oversee legal clearances for production and post-production projects
• Efficiently plans for and allocates human and technical resources to projects as needed
• Optimize workflow and manage workload for DPs and editors
• Oversee and maintain production calendars

The Essentials

• BA/BS degree preferred
• 8+ years’ experience with digital production
• Strong grasp on industry costs and legal paperwork
• Experience managing teams
• Ability to handle a fast-paced environment while simultaneously supervising multiple productions
• Familiar with current technology and best practices workflow for field and post productions
• Possesses a network of high quality talent and vendors
• Understanding of how to prioritize and respond accordingly
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Premiere, MS Office and understanding of project management tools (such as TeamGantt, BaseCamp)
