Warner Bros. Distributing Inc. seeks a Vice President, Marketing Research for the Market Research department. The Vice President, Market Research oversees several projects from the studios theatrical film slate.
Performs global research work including, but not limited to, the Industry Tracking Study, Production Test Screenings, Creative Materials Testing, Brand Research, and Weekend Audience Composition and Playability.
Plays a central role in the launch of research studies, along with the subsequent written analysis and verbal reporting of key research findings from the titles assigned. Responsible for also having a broad working knowledge of all research produced by the department.
Exhibits a detailed understanding of filmed and non-film product and be able to speak confidently to the competitive arena.
Responsible for building strong relationships with our contracted vendors, and dealing directly with them in crafting job orders, designing questionnaires and facilitating the processing of invoices.
Collaborates with other business units within the organization who have touchpoints with our product (e.g. Home Entertainment) and helps further the lifecycle of each film.
Attends meetings, confers with other members of the marketing team and interacts with filmmakers, production, and distribution executives. Interaction requires presenting research findings to upper management. Executive presence and strong verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.
Special projects outside of the core film slate will be assigned as needed, which may include quantitative and qualitative research to support internal data centralization, multicultural initiatives, expansion of research in the international markets, ethnography and research spotting trends in the marketplace.
Directs and supervisors assigned staff on a day to day basis and on assigned projects.
Bachelors degree or higher in related field required, including Marketing, Marketing Research, Statistics, Behavioral Science, Humanities/Liberal Arts, etc.
Minimum 10 years employment with focused concentration on conducting, analyzing and reporting survey market research studies required, either at a full-service research supplier at project director level or higher, or in a market research department at a client company.
Packaged goods or consumer products experience preferred.
Working knowledge of market research fundamentals and processes required.
Must have concise writing abilities, strong numeric skills (including the understanding of weighting data on a project-by-project basis) and the comfort in presenting findings to key stakeholders within the organization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
Exceptionally strong written and oral communication skills required.
Must be proficient at communicating research findings and marketing issues with top marketing and studio management, with filmmakers, and with other marketing department colleagues.
Strong skills in math, spelling, grammar and English usage required.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with persons on all levels, in person and on the telephone.
Must have the ability to organize and schedule work effectively.
Must have the ability to work well under time constraints.
Must be able to handle multiple tasks.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
