Responsible for managing the complex activities associated with supporting the technical accounting and reporting needs of the Cox Communications (CCI) division, which has annual revenue of approximately $10 billion. Position includes preparation of external financial reporting on a quarterly and annual basis, as well as the coordination of certain aspects of the annual financial statement audit with the outside independent auditors, and analyzing financial results. Serve as an advisor to CCI personnel by providing technical accounting guidance and research.

Review material contracts for correct accounting treatment and advise the business. Assist upper management with special projects as needed. Manage, coach and develop a Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Reporting. Reports to Director, Financial Reporting. This position will interact onsite daily with business and finance leaders across the company to provide consultation on business and technical accounting matters.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Serve as a technical accounting subject matter expert for the CCI division
• Prepare CCI sources and uses cash flow statements for accuracy and submission to the Financial Planning and Analysis group
• Review material contracts for correct accounting treatment
• Prepare/review consolidated quarterly and annual financial supplement for internal and external distribution, including financial statements, footnotes as applicable and management’s discussion and analysis
• Coordinate ongoing efforts with external auditors
• Conduct accounting research and provide accounting standard guidance to CCI and corporate departments
• Oversee senior analyst’s work and delegate tasks successfully in order to achieve group objectives
• Functional administrative duties for monthly Hyperion Financial Management reporting
• Prepare and review accounting for CCI’s investment and debt portfolio

Other responsibilities include:

• Assist with researching and responding to new and pending accounting pronouncements that affect the CCI division
• Lead annual intangible impairment testing process


• Bachelor’s degree and CPA required
• Minimum eight years accounting experience, including at least three years in public accounting (Big Four experience preferred)
• Strong technical research skills
• Strong analytical and financial reporting skills, including writing and editing financial statements
• Proficient in Excel and Word
• Experience in Hyperion Essbase and Hyperion Financial Management preferred
