Telemundo Lubbock and Telemundo Nuevo México are searching for a creative, energetic and dedicated producer, who speaks Spanish and writes in Spanish fluently.
This producer will be responsible for working with managing editor to produce newscasts. Newscasts are produced from our newsroom/studios in Lubbock. Separate newscasts air in the Albuquerque and Lubbock markets, with reporters and managing editors in each city.
Don't be deceived by the small market ranking. Lubbock is a fast-growing metro of 300,000+ with a strong, stable economy. Cost of living is low. There's always something to do, from Big 12 Athletics, live music, multiple wineries and breweries, museums, art galleries and much more. Lubbock is home to Texas Tech University, nearly 40,000 students strong with its own vibrant culture. Skiing is four hours west in the mountains of New Mexico, a weekend getaway to DFW or Austin is within driving range. And the airport flies direct to Dallas, Austin, Houston, Vegas, Phoenix and Denver.
Candidate must have proven broadcast newsgathering and communication skills in writing, reporting, editing and translating from English to Spanish. In addition, it’s preferred candidates have a background in producing and managing content for web and social media. Responsibilities include producing, collaborating with multi-platform journalists to cover pre-planned and breaking news events, editing and producing content for multiple platforms. You must be able to manage multiple tasks on a tight deadline basis. Candidates must have a strong command of the Spanish language, with ability to translate from English.
Physical requirements include occasionally carrying news equipment, including a camera and tripod, to the scene of news. Most work for this position will be conducted in the newsroom, collaborating with several other team members on a tight deadline. Must be able to operate several types of digital news equipment. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
