FOX Television Stations is one of the nation's largest owned-and-operated network broadcast groups, comprising 28 stations in 17 markets and covering over 37% of U.S. television homes. This includes seven duopolies in the top 10 markets: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Houston; as well as duopolies in Minneapolis, Phoenix, Orlando and Charlotte.
We are looking for an Engineering Production Manager to oversee our production and master control departments.
Coordinate the daily production and operational needs of the KMSP & WFTC newscasts and master control operations. Provide support for production operations, master control operations, and Engineering staff. Oversee the management of Production Operations, Master Control, and Supervisory staff (scheduling, training, performance management, employee relations, etc.). Fill in for production or master control as required. Interface with programming, traffic, creative services, news producers and directors to ensure operational needs are addressed. Implement and manage operational changes and projects. Actively participate in operations and capital budget planning. Continuously evaluate the station's day-to-day production and on-air operations and develop strategies to address any needs or deficiencies. Implement operational solutions on a timely basis and periodically review the solutions to ensure their effectiveness. Work with cross-departmentally with News, Creative Services, Traffic, and Engineering to evaluate and define the operations and production goals. All other duties as assigned by station senior management.
The position requires extensive knowledge of broadcast production systems including switchers (preferably Sony MVS/XVS/DVS series switchers), large format audio mixers (Calrec/Wheatstone, etc.), broadcast graphics systems (preferably Chyron), broadcast automation systems (preferably Sony ELC), and master control automation systems (preferably GVG ITX). Extensive experience directing news shows using template-based, automation-connected newsroom content systems (preferably Avid Inews). Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Broadcasting with a minimum of 2 years as a Director, Technical Director or Operations Supervisor in a medium or larger market. 4 year degree in broadcast communications or similar major preferred, but not required. Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational skills are a must. A positive attitude, and the ability to effectively lead and train a great group of broadcast operations professionals are essential skills for this position.
