Job Description:

WNEM, a Meredith Corporation TV station, is recruiting for a Content Producer. The Content Producer, in coordination with others, directs the daily flow of news to the newsroom for appropriate coverage both on-air and on the station's digital platforms.The Content Producer gathers meaningful news information from various sources, generates story ideas, discerns credible news tips, schedules news crews and takes in live feeds. Content Producers are responsible for creating content that is aligned with and enhances the station brand. The Content Producer is responsible for publishing and pushing content daily on multiple digital platforms, including mobile, online and social networks. This position requires solid news judgement, a sound grasp of online journalism and a sense of urgency.

Essential Job Functions

50% Posting content, including stories, videos and pictures to the station's digital platforms, while complying with digital publishing standards, including AP Style guidelines and in-house style guidelines.
40%- Monitors news sources, and social media, to ensure news is being appropriately covered. Discerning news tips, research and gathering information and dispensing that information to the newsroom, setting up interviews, answering phones.

10% Taking in live feeds and coordinating interviews. Operate teleprompter as needed.

Requirements (Experience, Education, Etc.):

Minimum Qualifications:
All must be met to be considered.

Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience.


At least two years working in media, Social Media, with focus on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Experience using a content management system (CMS) a plus.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must possess strong editorial skills and working knowledge of AP Style. Knowledge of content management systems (CMSs), HTML, CSS, various social media platforms, Adobe photoshop, Avid and iNews are preferred. Ability to work in a high-pressure, deadline-focused position. Self-starter who is flexible and with the ability to multitask. Other duties as needed by news managers.
